Capacity, generation and storage are different measures.
Solar capacity describes the size of installed equipment. Generation describes the electricity actually produced over a year. Storage capacity describes how much energy batteries can hold. Looking at all three gives a clearer view than relying on one headline number.
The figures above intentionally keep their original year or snapshot date. That matters because an annual government electricity report and a current industry capacity snapshot answer different questions.
Sources and methodology
Direct, named sources for every figure.
The 2024 electricity-generation, sales and price figures come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's published Arizona profiles. Installed solar capacity, storage capacity, solar-powered homes, investment, company count, solar jobs, electricity share and the five-year growth projection come from the Solar Energy Industries Association's Arizona state snapshot, accessed on August 24, 2026.
Figures are presented as reported by their source. Annual government data and a current industry snapshot use different reporting periods and methods. Projected growth is a forecast, not a guarantee.
